What is bandwidth (traffic allowance)? Print

  • 1

Bandwidth, also known as traffic allowance, is the amount of data that is allowed to visit your site during a monthly period. For example, if a web page is 100KB large, then if a visitor accesses this, 100KB will be added to how much data has been transferred during the month. At the beginning of a new month, your traffic allowance is zeroed and you are able to use the same amount of bandwidth again the next month. The Standard package comes with 7500MB bandwidth per month, which is perfect for medium web sites with a limited number of visitors. Much larger sites, expecting thousands of visitors a month, should choose a larger package to ensure they do not overrun their bandwidth allowance.
